Los Angeles Kings 2, Calgary Flames 0
BOXSCORE

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- In their first game without All-Star defenseman Rob Blake, the Los Angeles Kings showed they might be fine defensively.

Newly acquired Felix Potvin stopped 15 shots and Phillippe Boucher recorded his first goal in nearly two years as the Kings snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Calgary Flames. Blake, the Kings' captain and an 11-year veteran, was dealt to the Colorado Avalanche for Adam Deadmarsh and Aaron Miller on Wednesday. Deadmarsh did not play Thursday but Miller did and was a factor early on.

Potvin collected his first shutout with the Kings and 15th of his career. Los Angeles, which had been shut out in consecutive games, posted just its second win in seven games. Luc Robitaille got Los Angeles on the board with his 29th goal, 11:58 into the opening period.

Boucher made it 2-0 midway through the second period. With 1:19 gone in four-minute power play, Boucher beat Calgary goaltender Mike Vernon with a slap shot from the top of the left circle. Calgary, which was outshot 31-19, has dropped two straight and three of its last four.
